An introduction to cursive (or reintroduction).
This one-hour lab offers intentional instruction and focused time to slow down and develop the foundational movements of cursive.
Held in the Olive Room at The Hardware Store in downtown Brooksville, this experience is designed to spark a lasting appreciation for cursive.
Students begin with a guided gallery walk, followed by a brief look at the history of cursive, then move into hands-on practice of loops, swoops, and foundational strokes.
Rather than starting with letters, the focus is on the shapes that make cursive possible. The experience concludes with a guided “print to signature” moment, where students apply what they’ve learned to their own name.
Each student leaves with a thoughtfully prepared practice folio to continue at home.
Best suited for: 3rd grade and up
No prior experience needed
This experience is designed to be enjoyed together, with space for both students and an accompanying adult, and includes practical tips for supporting handwriting at home.
Please note: This is a focused instructional environment. Younger siblings and children outside the recommended age range should not attend.
