Portfolio evaluations

If you are near Hernando, Pasco or Citrus Counties I can meet with you and your child in person to see your portfolio and evaluate.

In-person steps:

  1. Book an in person session, I will text an agreed upon location.

  2. Show up to your appointment and bring your portfolio, yourself, and your child. I’d love to meet you!

If you are too far away, or just can’t make an in-person session right now, continue down this page and fill out a digital evaluation. Items submitted on this page will be emailed to me! After submitting, please book a 10-minute phone call for us to chat on the phone.

Digital Evaluation steps:

  1. Continue down this page and submit sample items from your portfolio. Anything submitted on this page will be emailed to me privately and not shared with anyone else.

  2. Book a 10 minute phone call. Your child will need to be present.

Please submit a new form for each child being evaluated.

Use the form below to begin an online review of a portfolio to be reviewed by Florida Certified Teacher, Suzanne Mechler.

Florida law requires me, the evaluator reviewing the portfolio, to use the information and evidence collected to determine if the student has made educational progress “commensurate with their abilities.”

If I need more information than you submit to make that determination, I will call you using the phone number you give in this form.

This form will ask you to present evidence of progress each child has made in a “Portfolio”:

A “Portfolio” contains the following:

  • A log of educational activities that was kept

  • Titles of reading materials used throughout the year (could include curriculum titles too)

  • Samples of student’s work or materials used.

The entirety of the “Portfolio” should be kept by you, for a minimum of two years, in case of audit by your county’s school board.

However I do not need to see the entirety, but just a few excerpts and examples.

This form will not save your information to come back to later, so before getting started, gather everything you will need and submit all at once. This may include grades or reports from online courses, 2-3 photos of work samples per subject (one from beginning and one from the end to show growth), video clips showcasing completed work or workbook pages, a short (30-second) video of your child reading, test results, a progress report from a tutor, or any other documentation that reflects their learning journey.
